World-renowned drummer-composer Valentina Magaletti teams up with music producer and multi-instrumentalist Zongamin in their East London studio to create an album of Dub / Post-Punk influenced material, featuring Vanishing Twin's Cathy Lucas, Coby Sey and Venus Ex Machina.
Dub postcards, east London boats, reflections in the eye of a cat, swallowing your tarot card, spitting echo from calming substances, yellow paint on our shut down local brunch spot, post-punk golden rules, shaking metal memories in a glass jar.

064 is a cheap thrill ride through a world consumed by work. Inspired by several years of hard hustle, "Workahol" and "Casheine" mash up hardcore, bassline, electro and booty bass to offer (over)stimulation for crisis-era dancefloors. "If you want my lovin' you've gotta work harder..."

Two prayer-loops on cultural displacement as life experience.
Growing up somewhere all you can think about is somewhere else. Musical themes and instrumental arrangements displaced and re-imagined, unrealistically linking island to island.
A distillation of open tabs and lyrical overflow as the vacant doodling in the margins. Everyone just holding each other up, exhausted.
Excited anticipation.
A hopeful anxiety.

You Always Will Be is the new album by artist Dylan Henner.
The follow up to 2020's well received 'The Invention of the Human', the new record touches on themes of nostalgia & longing for times passed; innocence yielding hardships and vice versa; ageing; the soul; life changes; parents and children; loss; love.
Dylan says:
"The piece tells the story of a single life, from birth to death. I've been thinking about the passage of life a lot recently as I lost all four of my grandparents but celebrated the birth of my daughter all within a short period of time. The brevity and preciousness of being really hit me."
The vinyl release consists of a ~ 40 min piece split across two sides, while the digital release features extended versions of the music in that piece, making up 11 individual tracks.

‘Paste’ is the new album by Moin, due for release on the 28th October 2022 via AD 93.
The follow up to their well received debut album ‘Moot!’, the record draws influences from alternative guitar music in its many forms, using electronic manipulations and sampling techniques to redefine it's context, not settling on any one style but moving through them in search of new connections.
By exploring these relationships, Moin delivers another collage of the known and unknown, punctuated by words that are just out of reach.

2 mixes of recent discoveries, some old, some new, some you may know, some you may not, all worth advocating.

Placid Angles is the alias of seminal electronic artist John Beltran. We're delighted to present this 4-track EP which will come out on July 22nd 2022.
John Beltran:
"Surprising to most this is my first Placid Angles “EP”. I’ve only released long players under this moniker and I couldn’t be happier with this four tracker. I’m also super excited to be working with Nic and AD 93.
I really wanted to get back to a 90’s energy for this project. That genuine IDM energy and feel that inspired me so many years ago. I have also thrown in some subtle 303 arps on this for your enjoyment!
I always kicked the idea around that I would only produce a couple more Placid Angles records for personal and nostalgic reasons then be done with it but the outpour of love and enthusiasm for my Placid material has me ALL in and wanting to keep at it with this special side project. So I will!"

The five tracks here represent the inscrutable mix of detachment and contentment that made DJ Python's Mas Amable a modern touchstone, but the 057 (Schwyn) EP also possesses the heartfelt '90s sheen that is Luis's sonic signature. Idiosyncratic rhythms and twinkling ambience build patiently before arriving at the blissed breakbeat closer.

SKY H1 presents her long-awaited debut album, Azure, on AD 93.
The widespread success of her first EPs and appearances captured the blurring lines between her foundational experiences in drum and bass, grime, dubstep, and techno, all tilted towards schematic bursts of pop. Azure builds on these foundations and explores a delicate medley of experiences, forms, and functions, culminating in an imaginative and evocative debut album.
The title, Azure, was chosen to evoke memories of her mother, to whom the record is dedicated.
The song titles reference the Access Virus synthesiser, an instrument series that made a deep and lasting impression on dance and electronic music in the early years of the new millennium.

No frills mix of outsider alt rock, hardcore and other underground splinter weirds from past and present. Some diggings, some obvs. All belters.

Where does the memory of a melody reside? Lucid phrases and half-remembered intonations buried somewhere, folded into times and places.
9 Airs took shape during an unconscious reconnection with music long since forgotten; an instinctive recall for melodies played out on guitar, low whistle and voice.
Recordings of these revived melodies became the starting point for new pieces, the audio manipulated, processed and folded back into the fabric.

Turn of Phrase is rooted in place and bound by time, yet is simultaneously unstuck in both of these things. The record spans a range of locales; the remote coastal town of Morecambe and its harshly beautiful surroundings, the technicolour glamour of the heart of LA, and London - a city whose maze of contrasting environments and tunnel-visioned bustle offers a totally blank slate.
The music however is anachronistic, technically guided by a strict set of rules based in time, the record’s memories and environments are allowed to wander and overlap. The familiar and the personal swirl and collide within an unfamiliar soundscape. The result acts something like a decaying memory, brief shining moments of clarity fighting against something unclear and untethered.

'The Invention of The Human' is designed as a response to the question "what makes us human?" The question has become increasingly important in this period of history, in that many of the answers aren't good enough. "Civilisation" could be one answer; but what good is civilization where there is so much misery within it? "Progress" could be another; but what good is progress without kindness and empathy to sustain it? Taking the thought of man's relationship with technology as a measure of humanity, I asked the computer "what do you think a human sounds like?", and with that I built this album of synthesised vocals, wondering if technological development can help explain what we are.
The vinyl release consists of two ~ 20 min pieces, while the digital release features extended versions of the music in those pieces, making 8 individual tracks.
Anyone that purchases the album from our bandcamp will also be credited with the two ~ 20 min pieces.
Synchronised with Henner’s core inquiry, the physical packaging (designed collaboratively between Alex McCullough and C’estainsi studio) employs a combination of machine learning and mechanical plotting to mimic the human mind and hand.

Minor Science presents his debut album 'Second Language', out on the 3rd April 2020.
The LP gives us a widescreen view of a musical world previously glimpsed through the producer’s series of 12" releases. A kaleidoscope of tempos and intensities, the record is often fast but rarely heavy, fizzing with detail but full of space, euphoric in places but frequently blue in mood.
As the title suggests, the album takes translation as a guiding principle, putting an idiomatic spin on familiar styles - from Detroit-ish techno and hyperspeed electro to twilit electronica, musique concrete and sour modal jazz. Minor Science's language is a knotty one, packed with odd time-signatures, brain-bending sound design and a playful palette of switch-ups, fake-outs and digital hiccups. But it's also soft and emotive, and shot through with vibrant melody.
Minor Science’s relationship with languages is a strong feature of the record. More precisely the relationship between a second and third language, and a mother tongue.
It signals an effort to get out of familiar habits, echoing the relationship he has with his own music writing and music making. Regardless of attempts to be precise, a translation can never fully capture the original meaning.

Initially commissioned by the Barbican Centre for their Silent Film and Live Music series, Music for Screen Tests features 11 original pieces performed live as one 54-minute session. The live soundtrack accompanied a 16mm film screening of Andy Warhol's Screen Tests in the venue's cinema space in February 2020.
From the Barbican:
Between 1964-66, Warhol would ask some visitors to the Factory to sit in front of his tripod-mounted 16mm Bolex camera, face forward, and hold still. They each sat for three minutes; the films that resulted are known as the Screen Tests.
The sitters’ responses to this ordeal, and their decisions about how to perform themselves for the camera, make these films hugely revealing. Some are reduced to weeping; some are overcome with self-consciousness; some meet the camera with an equal force of personality.

We're hugely honoured to share their latest release with you, a six-track extended EP due for release on 6th September 2019.

While falling he describes a unique scene happening on every balcony, painting a dark picture of Egyptian society.

The record features guest performances from saxophonist and trumpet player Eben Bull, singer Sian Ahern, and renowned experimental artist Anna Homler (aka Breadwoman) whose inimitable voice ushers us into the record’s opening prelude, and out of its redemptive final piece.
The design by Alex McCullough and Kia Tasbihgou illustrates a 1:1 scale etched steel plate; the industrially machined casing through which an abstract landscape by the late Brian McMinn is visible. The printed sleeve is a reproduction of this steel ‘breach artefact’, bound with custom produced elastic band denoting the tracklist, strapping in place an accompanying poetry chapbook to it’s outer.
‘After Masterpieces’ sets six recitals of Rupert’s poetry in unique, unpredictable and expansive musical scenery. The enigmatic and densely compacted texts, reworked and gently honed throughout the album’s slow creation, find an aerial perspective from which a lifetime of reading, listening and thinking is carefully re-mapped. The broad thematic scope takes in aesthetics, ancient mythologies, the origins of language and music, epistemology and ecology––to name just a few––all of which remain tightly intertwined, resistant to abstraction, and imbued with a sense of inquisitive ambiguity which treats all certainty with suspicion: the listener is invited to find their own threads, draw their own conclusions and think their own thoughts––as Anna Homler once aptly said of her own work, “…it’s not didactic, it’s poetic.”
Initially deriving its impetus from the mood and rhythm of the words, the album’s music utilises a wide-array of performance and production techniques. Clervaux draws on his full range of musical interests, creating long-form pieces that at turns support the recitals and then lead the way for the instrumental swathes within and between them. The sounds of ‘After Masterpieces’ revolve through the melodic ambience of ‘Her Fingers of Pink Light’; the dark electronics and multi-layered samples of ‘In Shadowlands of Like and Likeness’; the tentative interplay of piano and voice on ‘Damper and Drum’; and the riff-like patterned percussion and free improvisation of ‘Make Nature Speak.’ As the LP draws to a close, Homler and Bull join Rupert on ‘L’amore che Muove il Sole’—a sprawling anti-hymn, echoing the structure of ‘The Divine Comedy’, which discovers, in place of Dante’s heavenly paradise, a fragile optimism for positive change in the wreckage of failed grand narratives.
Additional thanks go to Noel Summerville, James Marrs, Laura Lies In and Ju Canon for their work on this project.

Bristol-based pair Giant Swan have built a much-deserved fanbase seemingly overnight thanks to their hybrid sound (drawing on noise, dub, pop etc etc), DIY approach and emotionally-charged live shows. Tasker: “I came across their music after receiving their 2016 EP ‘Earn’ on FuckPunk by mistake. RWDFWD clearly decided it was better than whatever thing I’d tried to order – and I’m glad they did."
The sleeve incorporates 1:1 scale floral embroidery design with a hi-vis metallic silver back.

SMX are Max O'Brien and Sam Purcell (Blank Mind). 'Sleep' is an intoxicating live jam recorded in October 2015 during a period of emotional upheaval, exploring themes of discordance and euphoria.
On 'Thief', Koehler says: "Take what you need and take it anyway you can. If you get it, you deserve it, because it means you earned it. But just remember one thing: whatever you take can be taken from you too, so think long, act fast and do so with honour and pride or all will become chaos."

Quirke returns with three introspective tracks that take inspiration from philosophical queries and wonderment related to both the world we live in now, and that which we have inherited from those that came before us.

The latest installment in an ongoing mix series, Absent Friends Vol. 2 presents Minor Science’s take on ambient: a hyper-dense, micro-edited collage form incorporating music, sound and speech. Progressing by a series of lulls and wild crescendos, its structure mimics the volatile behaviours of weather systems; over time, an oblique but powerful emotional narrative emerges.
